LCS (Lane Control Sign)
A Lane Control Sign (LCS) is a LED technology display product that informs drivers about lane availability using up to four symbols. Red “X” and green arrow as well as two left and right amber detour arrows.
Two symbols are usually sufficient on toll station applications, where one LCS is installed over every lane to display its availability (closed or open lane). Four symbols are required inside tunnels and over motorways with two or greater number of lanes per direction, where the detour arrows are required to warn for lane change.
There are two basic LCS models, one with 480mm symbols height and one with 350mm. The 480mm model is used on motorways and tunnels with over 80km/h speed limit and on main plaza toll stations when required reading distance is up to 250m. The 350mm model is used inside tunnels with speed limit less than 80km/h and on smaller, like ramp plazas toll stations, when required reading distance is up to 180m.
LCS signs are usually integrated on central control software (SCADA or Tolls Management Software), where all signs are controlled according to traffic scenarios and automations. Alternatively smaller scale integrations can be easily performed via the relay inputs. The communication method varies according to project network infrastructure and local communication interfaces.
